Sarah is a Professor of Wildlife Conservation at Charles Darwin University. She has managed large-scale fire management programs in the northern savannas and worked on the biodiversity impacts of fire in the tropics, the desert, and the eastern forests.

She was a member of the Wildlife and Threatened Species Bushfire Recovery Expert Panel after the 2019-20 Black Summer megafires.
